Acne Excoriee aka Picking

Picking at acne is one of those habits most people know they shouldn’t do, but occasionally give in and do anyway (usually when the zit is 90% dry with a scab encasing it).
But there is a point when picking at your pimples becomes a serious condition unto itself - it’s called acne excoriee. People with acne excoriee can’t stop picking and rubbing their acne.
Acne Excoriee is self inflicted, and can lead to severe scarring if it’s not treated. Traditional psychiatric treatment has been proven to help people with acne excoriee. It’s most common in teenage girls. The cause is believed to stem from the emotional effects acne can have on a person.
