Look Out Proactiv - L’Oreal Launches “AcneResponse” New Adult Acne Product
By Acne Free | October 2, 2006

I’m surprised it’s taken this long for someone to release a acne system that contains benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, but that what Loreal has done with it’s new AcneResponse Daily Adult Acne Regimen.
Proactiv, and it’s generic clone Acne Free (which costs 50% less than Proactiv) both have benzoyl peroxide as the only active ingredient used to control acne. Benzoyl peroxide does a good job of fighting the bacteria that causes acne, but it doesn’t stop clogged pores. When you add salicylic acid to your washing regimen you will be gently washing away dead skin cells, these skin cells are what clog your pores and cause the acne in the first place.
The Acne Response 3 Step System Includes
* Step 1: Pore-Clearing Cleanser Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment (1% salicylic acid)
* Step 2: Skin-Clarifying Toner
* Step 3: Blemish-Fighting Lotion Benzoyl Peroxide Acne (2.55% benzoyl peroxide)
Pros of LOreal AcneResponse Daily Adult Acne Regimen
- Treats acne with both salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide
- Retail Price is $24.99 vs $39.99 for Proactiv
- Has a gentle formula 1% salicylic acid and 2.55% benzoyl peroxide
Cons of LOreal AcneResponse Daily Adult Acne Regimen
- The toner could cause excess drying
- There’s no moisturizer
- If you buy all 3 ingredients separately you could save $10-$15
If you’re not happy with Proactiv or looking for quality acne treatment LOreals AcneResponse Daily Adult Acne Regimen looks solid. You should consider adding a water based moisturizer to this regimen to prevent dryness. In my opinion this beats any of the other acne systems hands down.

I love this product. I had breakouts with Proactive that were worst than before I started using it.
L’Oreal’s Acne Response cleared my skin in about a week. I’m sorry to say that I’m having a hard time finding it in the local pharmacy. I hope it’s not being discontinued.

I am 22 years old, and used Proactive when it first came on the market, faithfully, throughout most of my high school career. However, as I’ve been getting older, it stopped working for me.
I searched for similar ingredients and found this kit - and I LOVE IT. It always works great. I have a few complaints, such as the third step lotion peels when you use too much, which makes it hard to wear under makeup, and that you also cannot buy this seperately. I always run out of toner first, no matter the kit.
However, my biggest complaint is that I CAN’T FIND THIS ANYWHERE ANYMORE!! Are they discontinuing it? I have not been able to find it at several different Wal*Marts, Targets, or drug stores.
