Benefits of Fiber for Acne
By Acne Free | April 1, 2008
There are a number of reasons why you could develop acne and there are also a large variety of treatments available to clear the problem up. However, what people do not often realize, is that sometimes it is possible to treat acne by changing simple things in your diet. One particularly good change that you can make to treat your acne problem is to increase your intake of fiber.
Why Fiber Helps With Acne
Fiber is well known to help with digestion. Keeping your colon clean and ridding the body of any toxins, it is also great for helping people with weight loss. However, one way in which it can help that many people are unfamiliar with, is as an acne treatment. If you’ve read of the “Acne Free In 3 Days Ebook you know they place great emphasis on colon cleansing. You can check out my Acne Free In 3 Days Review here.
Now don’t get me wrong, fiber alone will not completely rid you of your acne. However, it can help and a lack of fiber could be a contributor towards your acne problem.
So just how does fiber help with acne? Well it is said that if you want good skin, you have to have a healthy digestive system. If you do suffer from acne then you may also notice that you are having problems with constipation as well as a number of other digestive problems. Not having a healthy digestive system can indirectly affect acne.
Think about it. When you eat plenty of fruit, vegetables and grains, you go to the toilet more frequently, you have more energy, you are happier and your skin is clearer. It is no coincidence that if you do not get enough fiber into the diet through these types of foods that your skin will not be as clear and your body will not be as healthy. Toxins in the body can cause acne to become worse and if the digestive problems you are having cause you to become stressed, that could also make your acne problem worse. So, it is essential to get added fiber into your diet.
Most adults tend to get just over 10g of fiber into their diets every single day. When you realize that the recommended daily intake for men over the age of 19 is 38g and for women over 19 it is 25g, you will soon see that a lack of fiber could be a problem.
There are a number of ways in which you can increase your intake of fiber. Eating more fruits and vegetables is one, but things such as flaxseed oil can also be really good. Just one apple each day could help to give you the extra fiber that you need and choosing wholegrain food is another excellent way of making positive fiber changes within the diet.
Why Keeping the Colon Clean and Clear Helps
The reason why it is essential to have a clean colon is because if it is clogged, the toxins within the body go back through our system. They then escape through our pores and that is when acne can become a problem.
Whenever our pores are blocked, the sebum that is produced cannot get out properly and that is when pimples start to form. The toxins will also irritate the skin and that will cause further problems. So, by not getting enough fiber into the diet, the colon could become blocked and therefore acne could develop.
Overall acne can be prevented slightly if you increase your intake of fiber, though it is not a miracle cure.
