Dangers Of Fish Oil

By Acne Free | February 12, 2008

The benefits of taking fish oil for acne is well known, but the dangers of fish oil are not talked about much and that’s what this article is all about. I still encourage anyone with acne to use fish oil, but you need to be aware of a few things especially if you’re taking cheap fish oil.

Mercury, which is toxic, is the number one thing you want to avoid when taking fish oil. The mercury comes from fish raised on polluted water and needless to say is bad for you.

But that’s just one of the undesirable things you’ll find in cheap fish oil - you also got mercury, lead, nickel, arsenic, cadmium, or other contaminants like PCB’s, furans, dioxins, etc.

In large doses these things can kill you! Of course even the worst fish oil product will only contain trace amounts, but still it’s best not to consume these things at all.

To make sure your fish oil is not contaminated only buy pharmaceutical grade fish oil which has been processed by the method called molecular distillation. This will cost more then your typical fish oil sold at discount vitamin outlets, but if you’re not going to use quality fish oil then you’re better off not taking fish oil at all.
