How To Use Apple Cider Vinegar For Acne

By Acne Free | December 20, 2008

For effective use in the treatment of acne vulgaris, apple cider vinegar should be diluted with water to a concentration of 50% and applied topically. The chemical constituents of cider vinegar make it a powerful astringent that is very effective in reducing inflammation, bruising and swelling in no time at all. For a clear and attractive skin, continued usage of apple cider vinegar is necessary as it clears the skin of acne lesions and prevents the formation of new lesions.

“People won’t pay for prevention” – all marketers

One of the most recited marketing mantras of all time is that “people won’t pay for prevention”.  I’ve been to marketing seminars that focus exclusively on how to extract the most amount of money out of consumers like you (and me) and when the speaker was asked to distill his core message down to a single bullet point this is what he said:

“Fat people want to pop a pill, go to bed fat, and wake up skinny”

Now he was using the weight loss market as an example, but according to him this principle universally applies to all markets.  What he means is that people are only interested in quick fixes that don’t involve them having to lift a finger.

As much as I hate to admit it, and as much as I dislike the crass way the speaker described what people really want, I can’t argue with him.  Take a look at all those infomercials that promise instant weight loss, a photographic memory overnight, millions of dollar working just 2 hours a week.  These things have been around for decades and when one fizzles out another one comes along and makes the same claim and people trip over themselves to buy it.

There’s a couple books out their that I consider to be the acne version of a get-rich-quick scheme.  They make big bold claims, and promise instant results, but like most things that sound too good to be true, don’t deliver on their promise.

The lesson here is that there are acne books out their that give good advice, but if you find one who’s claims sound too good to be true don’t waste your money.

Quick Post About Eating Your Way To Clear Skin

By Acne Free | September 2, 2008

Want to start eating your way to healthy skin? Eat a low-fat, high carbohydrate diet based on fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid foods that are high in sugar such as cakes, soft drinks, and jams as well as foods containing white flour like bread and pasta. We’re used to quick fix these days: taking a pill or using a magic formula. But you’re body will thank you if you tackle your acne from the inside out.

Many different factors cause acne, but it would seem that supporting your overall health with a low-sugar diet will also support healthy, clear skin.

You should try to avoid foods with a high glycemic index and enjoy foods on the lower end like sprouted wheat bread, apples, berries, poultry and fish. However, some foods on the high side aren’t easily avoided. Don’t fret. When eating foods with a high glycemic index, work to pair them with foods with a low glycemic index to strike a balance between the two. In doing so, your blood sugar levels will be more consistent, giving you more energy, stabilizing your weight, and helping you live a healthier, longer life.

The Sun and Acne

By Acne Free | July 8, 2008

It’s summer, and that means the blazing hot sun will be frying your skin.  This is just a quick tip because I’m about to call it a night, but make sure you wear some type of sun screen to protect your skin. Not only will this help with acne, but it can help prevent skin cancer down the road.

I use Lab Series Care For Men Daily Defense Lotion SPF 15.

It’s light and it’s fragrance free.
